When you have too much stuff

This is something I hear a lot: “I’ve got so much stuff, and I still can’t seem to start”.

You’ve got a space full of art supplies, beautiful papers, embellishments, etc, and yet when you go to sit down and make something, you’re simply overwhelmed with all the choices.

You're not lazy, and you're not out of ideas. You just have too many options.

So I came up with a simple experiment that helped me break through creative paralysis: packing a small lunchbox tin with only the supplies I need, and taking it somewhere new to create. No digging through drawers, no second-guessing, no talking myself out of it — just a contained kit and a timer.

Of course I had to immediately try it, and in 45 minutes, I finished three journal pages! That’s definitely a success.

You don't need a lunchbox — a shoebox, a tin, or any bag with a limit will do. The point is to constrain your choices so you can actually begin.

I created a video and in it, I show you exactly what I packed in mine (papers, a handmade journal, glue, tape, and a few small extras). I also take you through my outdoor creative session, and share what I'd do differently next time.

What would you pack in your box? Did I miss something? I’d love to read what you’d do differently.
