An in-person event to remember!
Last weekend I did something I never thought I could do. I hosted an in-person event where 18 of us came together over a weekend, to work on some awesome collage-art projects, and then share them with each other.
There were so many wonderful parts to this.
First, I had tremendous help putting all of this together. My team with 4 helpers did so much to help me plan the event with our welcome dinner at the beginning, with setting up the spaces, with organizing events, and making everyone feel welcome.
We had a huge table in the fancy dining room of our facility. I could hardly believe that all 18 of us fit in one place!
We had some interesting projects that kept us plenty busy. One project was to make ATCs from a masterboard. The idea was to create a whole bunch (enough so that all 18 of us could exchange) at one time.
It was so great getting to see people’s creative spaces and how they were putting things together.
And in the middle of our space were long tables filled with vintage papers. Holy cow, did we have a lot of things to choose from!
Everyone was asked to bring an envelope of materials to share, but I also got a lot from the San Jose Stamp Club, including loads of postage stamps.
Honestly, it was a little overwhelming, all the stuff, but oh so fun to play with!
And I can’t forget to mention the place itself. We stayed at the historic Hayes Mansion, in San Jose.
What an incredibly gorgeous location!
Funnily enough, the weather cooperated with us. It rained the weekend before and the weekend after, but we had sunny skies the whole time.
Here’s how my 18 ATCs turned out.
I kind of was a bit heavy handed with the pinks, but I like the over all effect.
I haven’t decided yet if we are going to do another event next year. If you’d like to be on my list be notified, here’s the link: https://margarete-miller.ck.page/a6686d4d87
We had a wonderful time. I’d certainly love to do this again some day!
