It’s time to push myself to use up my ephemera. I haven’t been doing a good job lately. I’m hoarding papers and not using, and that’s got to stop. So, for the next month, every day, I’m going to be creating collages with my very vintage ephemera.
I’m posting on my Instagram account. If you don’t follow me there, all my posts automatically get forwarded to my page on my Margarete Miller Facebook page so you can follow me there as well. If you are not on either of those two places, I’ll likely write up a new blog post here with more photos of collages from over the month.
Working with vintage ephemera
In this post called The Dilemma of Using Vintage Materials or Copies, I wrote about why I choose to work with original papers. Yes, there are plenty of times when I use reproduction materials, but I always prefer to work with originals. as long as I treat them respectfully.
Anyway, here’s what I’ve made so far:
I just got this War Ration Book this past Saturday from a vintage fair at our local history museum. I’m so glad I did something pretty with it.
I love this “manifold” receipt pad! I’ve used two so far. I’ve got about 15 left. What’s a “bbl”? It’s more than a pint and less than a gallon.
I’ve created a new hashtag for this project, in case anyone wants to join me– #useitupephemera
I’ve got the whole month of October. 🙂
Here are the other pieces I’ve created in October
